Attorney at LawMichael was born and raised in Florida. He spent much of his youth working in orange groves and watermelon fields in Central Florida. Michael knows the roots of this community and works hard to help people in all circumstances.
After obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Utah State University in 2008, Michael pursued a law degree from the Florida Coastal School of Law. He graduated in 2011 and was admitted to the Florida Bar. Michael is also licensed to practice law in Georgia. While in school, Michael interned with the State Attorney's Office and went on to work as an Assistant State Attorney. He learned the criminal justice system first hand and found his passion for criminal defense. In addition to his background working on criminal cases, Michael also has experience in resolving family law and civil litigation. Michael is married and a father of 4 which include 8 month old twins. He is a family man who loves the outdoors, fishing and boating and so much more.Connie Y. Brookes
Paralegal to Michael DicksConnie Y. Brookes has over 30 years of experience in the legal field as a Paralegal, Legal Assistant, Office Manager, and Executive Administrative Assistant in the areas of Criminal Defense, Civil Litigation and Family Law. Connie has worked as the Assistant to the President of the (PACDL) Pinellas Association Criminal Defense Lawyers, as well as, worked on judiciary fund raising and campaigning for the election or retention of local judges. She is very familiar with courthouse procedures, the Clerks’ office, and the State Attorney’s Office. She has visited local DMV offices, Probation offices, as well as local law enforcement agencies and County Jails, and several Florida State Prisons. She has had the unique opportunity to work with HLN Court TV, NBC Dateline and E Network for filming of High Profile Trials. Connie’s duties include scheduling appointments, interviewing clients, notarizing documents, collecting and processing payments, preparing and filing court documents, jail visits, scheduling court appearances, and setting depositions. As well as reviewing discovery materials, working on all trial preparation, organizing trial exhibits and trial notebooks, and assisting in court during all trials. Connie’s works closely with our Attorney and with Judges and Judicial Assistants daily on all of our cases’, so she can be up to date with all that happens in all our cases. Connie has been active in Prison Reform, as well as Little League and High School and College baseball. She has been official scorekeeper and recorded stats, and baseball averages. Connie is the oldest of four siblings she was born and raised in St. Petersburg, Florida. She has one son and is a proud grandmother of a seven-year-old granddaughter and one more on the way. Connie enjoys family time, cooking, movies, music, baseball, Nascar racing, football and a lot more. Connie is commitment to her legal work in this office, she is dedicated and a hard worker.
Kayla Waltz
Office ManagerKayla is new to the legal field but has many years of experience as an Executive Administrative Assistant, as well as customer service and management in multiple corporate settings. Having held positions in the retail, government, and business fields, Kayla is able to tailor her skills to meet the needs to various clients. She will be the first voice you hear when you call our office and the one to greet you when you arrive for appointments. In addition to reception duties, her responsibilities include, mailing documents, filing, opening new files, billing, and accounting. She also keeps our social media websites up to date. Kayla has been a great addition to our office. She is a self-starter and she is the calm among the chaos. She is very familiar with the inner workings of the office and has played a key role in getting our office up and running. Kayla is able to interact directly with potential and existing clients, and will ensure all questions and concerns are answered promptly. Her passion for helping others and attention to detail drives her to provide you with the best customer service experience possible. Kayla was born and raised in Bartow, Florida. She is married and a mother of 3. Kayla enjoys spending time with her family, watching movies, crafting, and just about anything outdoors. Grateful for an amazing group of coworkers and neighborhood friends, Kayla makes sure that new clients are greeted in a way that makes them feel welcome and confident in our services.
